The Epic Games Store continues to offer gamers two free games this week, so from today until April 28, you can add Frictional Games’ 2020 survival horror hit, Amnesia: Rebirth and Cococucumber’s 2019 shoot-and-slash dungeon crawler, Riverbond to your library for absolutely no cost.
Amnesia: Rebirth is the third entry to Frictional Games’ Amnesia franchise and is the sequel to 2010’s Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Rebirth is set in March 1937, approximately 98 years after the events of The Dark Descent and follows the story of Anastasie “Tasi” Trianon, who was on an expedition in colonial Africa. After her plane crash-lands in Algeria, Tasi must wander through desert caves and ancient tombs to find the whereabouts of her husband and companions.
Similar to The Dark Descent, Rebirth is played from a first-person perspective and you will need to solve various puzzles to progress. Also, much like in the first game, Tasi’s fear level will build up over time especially when she spends too much time in the dark which will cause her to hallucinate and hear whispers in her head. Solving puzzles, hiding from monsters and managing light sources will help keep her fear under control. There is also no combat in this game, so your only option is to run or hide when you encounter a supernatural creature.
If horror really isn’t your cup of tea, then Riverbond will be right up your alley as it trades in the grim darkness of Amnesia: Rebirth for a bright, colourful and gorgeous voxel art style. Also, in this game, you can shoot and slash at enemies.
Riverbond is a dungeon crawler where you and up to three friends will break apart enemies, objects, and the environment in a game that is all about loot-grabbing fun. The game takes place over eight whimsical worlds, each with its own secrets for your to discover and foes to smash. You can choose to face the enemies by using melee or ranger weapons in fast-paced combat.
If you are a fan of management sims and are also a cat person, then developer Roost Games and publisher Freedom Games’ latest release, Cat Cafe Manager, is the “purrfect” game for you as it is a charming restaurant management and feline adoption simulator.
In Cat Cafe Manager, you are given a warm welcome to the cosy community of Caterwaul Village. You are given the task to give Granny’s cafe a grand reopening so you will have to create delectable dishes, get to know the locals, and aid fuzzy residents in finding their “fur-ever” home all while uncovering a magical mystery.
To boost the cafe’s appeal, you will have to welcome more of Cateraul’s four-legged residents and learn their personality quirks. To further breathe new life into Granny’s cafe, you can also redesign its interior decor and hire fresh staff yearning to care for fluffy and human customers alike.
Last but not least, you will have to choose the right decor and menu selections to attract newcomers of all varieties like fishermen and witches to increase profits and spend on the cafe’s expansion. Additional rooms with special themes can also be built where you will choose the desired design from the wallpaper down to the lamps on end tables.
It has been a while since gamers have been treated to a game that is focused solely on stealth. Enter developer Sky Machine Studios and publisher Blowfish Studios’ stealth sandbox action game, Winter Ember, which will put your stealth and detective skills to the test.
In Winter Ember, you become the long assumed dead aristocrat, Arthur Artorias and you follow him on his quest for revenge against Greater Heaven, the oppressive religious faction whose iron grip has ruined the remains of his homestead. Throughout his quest, you will scour the derelict districts of a massive Victorian city covered by mist and darkness, both of which will enable you to stealthily duck in and out of snow-covered alleyways to pilfer gorgeous estates and temples while silently dispatching unlucky foes standing in your way.
Arthur is also an adept archer and can craft specific arrows to aid him in his quest. You can combine smoke, explosion, electricity, sleep, water and poison elements with numerous materials to scale buildings, destroy barriers, and subdue unsuspecting cult members. Furthermore, you can improve Arthur's skills through three distinct trees that grant him a deadly edge in either Combat, Stealth, or Utility.
So if you are ready to unravel the unsettling truths behind Arthur’s painful past, the untimely fall of his family, and Greater Heaven’s motivations to cleanse the world of “darkness”, be sure to purchase it from Steam and GOG. From now until April 26, the game will have a special 15% launch discount.
Tactical Adventures’ tactical RPG Solasta: Crown of the Magister was released last year and has received great reviews from critics and gamers alike. It received its first DLC Primal Calling about six months after launch and now it has received one of its biggest DLC yet in Lost Valley.
If you haven’t heard of Solasta: Crown of the Magister, it is essentially a team-based tactical role-playing game where each character plays a critical role in the campaign and can be a hero. The game was lauded for its elements of verticality, team-based adventure, dungeon maker, character customisation and hours of authentic tabletop gameplay.
In the latest Lost Valley DLC, you will be treated to an entirely new story arc that runs parallel with the original campaign that players can jump right into at level one. The new campaign features new locations, enemies, nine new subclasses, and fresh dungeon maker environments. There is also adaptive difficulty, multiple endings and infinite replayability.
This brand new campaign will see a party of adventurers delve deep into the idyllic Valley of the Dominion in search of a missing agent of the Principality of Masgarth, uncovering the old Manacalon ways that were forgotten once the Rift opened. With power dynamics and warring factions at play, there’s plenty to uncover as the party is forced to choose sides to survive.
One of the biggest additions to Solasta: Crown of the Magister comes in the form of the free update that adds online co-op multiplayer support. Now you can enjoy this game with up to three friends and play through the original story and previous DLC content.
Another day, another new deckbuilding game is released. However, developer 12B3 promises that EndCycle VS will offer fans of the genre a fresh take on this tried and true formula.
EndCycle VS is inspired by the legendary Mega Man Battle Network series and brings retro-style battlers into the future with modern features and mechanics. EndCycle VS offers over 4000 possible combinations of moves and 20 unique characters to choose from. It also combines the pulse-pounding intensity of your fighting games with the tactical flair of deckbuilding games.
On top of that, the game features a deep and mature Story Mode, interwoven with themes of legacy, loss and love. It also perfectly combines heart-racing action with heart-breaking moments. As the world hangs in the balance, you must find out if you have what it takes to stop the Noise and end the cycle.
Besides the Story Mode, EndCycle VS features various other modes such as a branching roguelike exploration experience that tasks you to take out enemies only with powers that you find along the way. If you are looking for something a little more competitive, you can take part in online cross-platform multiplayer battles. You can choose to either take down waves of enemies in cooperative play or go head-to-head against other players in Versus Mode.
EndCycle VS is now available for purchase on Steam.
