Experience a narrative adventure based on Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo

If Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo sounds familiar to you, it is because this new narrative adventure game from Pendulo Studios and Microids is based on the director’s psychological thriller of the same name that was released in 1958.

In Pendulo Studios version of Alfred Hitchcock - Vertigo, the game is centred around the troubled story of Ed Miller, a writer who escaped unscathed from a car crash and now experiences intense vertigo. Ed is convinced he just lost his wife and daughter in the crash, he starts going for therapy and confiding in his psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Lomas. However, Ed is reluctant to dive deep into his memory to find out the hidden truth. You will also have the chance to follow the sheriff’s investigations as he tries to solve this mystery.

Alfred Hitchcock - Vertigo features an original story about obsession, memory, manipulation and madness and is freely inspired by the original source material. You will play the game through the perspective of three different characters and explore several different timelines to cross-check and separate reality from deceptive memories.

You can purchase Alfred Hitchcock - Vertigo on Steam and GOG. There is also the Digital Deluxe Edition that comes with a digital artbook, game’s original soundtrack, avatars, wallpapers and in-game filters.

Thunderful invites you on a sci-fi exploration in The Gunk

The team that transported gamers to a post-apocalyptic steampunk world in the SteamWorld series, Thunderful, has just released their latest story-driven sci-fi exploration game, The Gunk, that will take you on an adventure in a wondrous and diverse alien world.

In The Gunk, you play as Rani, one half of a space-hauling duo that stumbles across a seemingly barren planet infested with a strange undiscovered substance they call “the gunk”. Rani and her partner Becks wonder if their days of scrapping for resources is about to end with their unusual discovery. But there are other pertinent questions to answer: what exactly is the gunk? How did it get here? What kind of world existed prior to its arrival? And what happened to the ancient civilization that’s left only ruins behind?

Exploration is given a huge emphasis in this game as you will traverse a diverse alien world that features biomes ranging from rocky canyons to dense jungles, to deep subterranean caves and a few more surprises. However, the gunk is turning all of these zones barren and as you remove it using Rani’s goo-sucking power-glove, you will discover flourishing ecosystems that have been suppressed by the gunk.

While exploring, Rani can also scan the environments to make new discoveries and learn about this intriguing world. These discoveries will fill out her logbook with clues and information so you will learn more about what happened on this gunk-infested planet.

You can step into this intriguing alien world via the Xbox Game Pass or the Xbox Games Store.

Prison Tycoon: Under New Management gets released on Steam and GOG

Source: Abylight

Last week, the Epic Games Store gave you the chance to redeem Prison Architect for free, this week, the talented team at Abylight Barcelona has released Prison Tycoon: Under New Management on Steam and GOG.

This building and management game employs you as a prison’s new manager where rehabilitation is conducted in not so conventional methods. Instead of going down the route that mirrors reality by using punishments, Prison Tycoon: Under New Management instead opts for therapies that are funny and out-of-the-box such as using zero gravity rooms, VR treatment and even dancing therapy.

Other than that, you will also have to keep your prison nice and clean, efficient and profitable to make everyone happy, this includes inmates and also the government. This won’t be easy as both parties have their demands and you will also be challenged by environmental events as you can choose prisons in Desert, Tundra, Tropical, Taiga and Swamp environments.

The game doesn’t come alone as its first DLC “Roll Call” is also available at launch for free. This DLC lets you set your imagination wild and free with full character customisation, so if you are a streamer, you will be able to involve your community with this playful feature.

Clid the Snail finally crawls its way onto the PC

Source: Thunder Lotus

Earlier this week, Montreal-based developer Thunder Lotus announced that its award-winning “cosy management game about dying”, Spiritfarer, had surpassed the 1 million copies sold milestone. Alongside that major announcement, the developer also launched the Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition, which brings together the base game and all the additional content released to date.

In Spiritfarer, you take on the role of Stella, accompanied by her pet cat Daffodil, who takes over from Charon, the mythological Greek ferryman who brings departed souls to their final resting places. However, in Spiritfarer, Stella has to grant their last wishes and finally take them to the Everdoor, the gateway to the afterlife.

To grant these Spirits their last wishes, you will have to meet the needs of the spirits aboard your ship with foods and boat additions such as gardens, homes and other amenities to help the Spirits feel more at home. Along the way, these Spirits will also give you various tasks that they hope to accomplish before heading to the afterlife. There are also various mini-games to play such as fishing and collecting resources to get you what you need to keep the Spirits happy.

With the Farewell Edition, you will also get the third and final Jackie & Daria update which introduces a new island to explore, two new Spirits to befriend, a new event and more. If you are a fan of more relaxing games or games with heartwarming stories, then you need to add Spiritfarer to your to-play list if you haven’t already.
