Get Europa Universalis IV for Free on the Epic Games Store
Released way back in 2013, Europa Universalis IV is a strategy game by Paradox Interactive and Paradox Development Studio that will take you to worlds both old and new, and give you the chance to conquer them.
In this strategy game, you control a nation and have to guide it through the years and create a dominant global empire in the Age of Discovery. The game offers unprecedented freedom through the use of exploration, trade, warfare and diplomacy to let you rule however you see fit. Strategists will face ruthless AI in an extensive single-player campaign or be able to backstab friends and foes in 32-player online matches.
While you may be just getting the base game for free on the Epic Games Store, Paradox has released over 30 downloadable content. These include expansions, which alter mechanisms and features of the game; flavour packs, which add new events and minor mechanism tweaks, music packs and cosmetic packs. The latest expansion, Leviathan, was released on April 27, 2021, and overhauls the gameplay for North America, Southeast Asia and Oceania regions, and introduces Aboriginal Australians and Pacific Islanders.
If you crave even more content, the game also supports third-party mods which can change the game’s setting, add or remove features and game mechanisms. There is even a Game of Thrones mod that lets you pit your wits against the master schemers in Westeros.
Europa Universalis IV is free on the Epic Games Store from today until October 7, so if you love strategy games, click HERE to add it to your library.
Revolutionary Turn-Based Shooter, Lemnis Gate is out now
For gamers who are looking for an innovative, challenging and completely fresh take on the strategy FPS experience, Frontier Foundry and Ratloop Games Canada brings you Lemnis Gate that introduces a time-looping mechanic that is bound to change how you experience strategy shooters. The game is now available for purchase on Steam and the Microsoft Store.
In Lemnis Gate, you control one of seven uniquely skilled Operatives per round. Each Operative brings their own unique abilities, powerful enough to change the course of battle and help ensure masterful planning and skilful execution win the day. Mastering these abilities is key to players securing the ultimate goal: victory.
The rules are simple: you pick an Operative and make your move. This might be killing an enemy, protecting a teammate, or destroying an objective. The catch is that each match takes place within a 25 second time loop, so with each progressive round, you will have to keep one step ahead of not only your own moves, past and present but also those of your opponent as you battle to outsmart the opposition over five mind-bending rounds.
There are four modes you can experience this innovative concept, Seek and Destroy, Domination, Retrieve XM and Deathmatch. These modes are all spread across twelve incredibility immersive maps.
On top of that, you can also play the game online or offline. Players will enter the time loop separately with turn-based rules, or enter together and battle simultaneously within the same turn in both 1v1 and 2v2 games. For local multiplayer, there is also a “pass-the-controller” option, allowing players to strategise alongside each other in person.
Last but not least, Operatives are also customisable and you will unlock an amazing array of cosmetic rewards through the progression system. From weapon skins and Operative Suits to emblems and emotes, you will have plenty of ways to create a distinct look for each of your Operatives.
Barricadez Brings Survival Mechanics to a Tower Defense Game
Developed by Japanese indie studio, FlyPenguin, Barricadez has left early access and the full game can now be purchased on Steam. To celebrate the launch of the game, you can purchase the game with a 35% discount from now until October 13.
Barricadez is a side-scrolling tower defense survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity is on the brink of extinction and the world is infested by zombie-like creatures that go on the hunt at night. You play as an all-purpose care robot and it is up to you to protect the cradle from these hostile creatures that are hellbent on destroying everything, including the child in the cradle.
However, Barricadez is more than just a tower defense game as it also has survival mechanics such as resource gathering, crafting and upgrading. You will have to explore the underground world to find and gain access to resources, valuable blueprints and upgrades. Going deeper and will net you rarer resources. Other than exploring, you can also prepare your traps and barricades during the day to hold out until dawn against the endless hordes of the zombie-like creatures through the night. There is also an autocrafting system that will help automate crafting supplies and ammunition for your traps.
Strategy and arrangement is also extremely important as each zombie requires a different approach to deal with. Killing these creatures gives you engrams, a resource that allows you to upgrade your skills and traps. Utilise the rotary and vertical excavators as extra sources of resource gathering, while drones allow you to automate the extraction of those materials. The creatures of the night will stop at nothing to destroy everything, it’s up to you to build a strong base to protect the last beacon of hope of humanity.

Rogue Lords is a Roguelike Where You Play as The Devil
Published by NACON and developed by Cyanide and Leikir Studio, Rogue Lords is a turn-based roguelike that transports you to a dark and mature world inspired by 18th century New England and the Salem witch trials, and where you play as the Devil. You have returned to the human world to take revenge against the Demon Hunters who defeated you 10 years ago.
To dole out your revenge, you have to build a formidable and monstrous team. That will not be too hard as you can recruit 9 infamous evil geniuses including Dracula, the Headless Horseman, Bloody Mary, the White Lady, Lilith, Hecate, Baron Samedi, and Frankenstein and his Creature. Each of these evil geniuses has special talents and it is up to you to combine their powers to create devastating attacks and defeat the members of the Sanctua Lumen, a new cult hunting your followers.
During each run, you will build a team of three Disciples, progress through the game on a 3D map and you have to choose the events you want to trigger. These include turn-based combats, interactive events and encounters with the Grim Reaper, who will trade new relics and skills for souls you have collected.
Seeing as you are the Devil, you play by your own rules. By sacrificing some of your own health, you can alter the health bars of your Disciples and enemies, swap buffs and debuffs to suit your strategy, open portals on the map to reach inaccessible areas, or even tip the odds in your favour during interactive events.
Rogue Lords is available for purchase on Steam or the Epic Games Store. The standard edition and Blood Moon edition (Steam / Epic Games Store) has a 20% launch discount that lasts until October 8. The Blood Moon Edition comes with the Supporter pack which includes, a 68-page Digital Artbook, the original soundtrack and the Moonlight set that has 3 exclusive skins for Dracula, Bloody Mary and the Headless Horseman.
