Speed Brawl and Tharsis are Free on The Epic Games Store Until September 23

Source: Double Stallion (L) & Choice Provisions (R)

Speed Brawl is an anime-inspired 2D combat racer by developers Double Stallion. The game is set in Victorian-era London in a world that has been changed by a war with insect-like space invaders called Selenites.

After her victory over these interstellar invaders, humanity created a vicious bloodsport known as Speed Brawl. Combatants take part in this gauntlet in a team of two and have to withstand an onslaught of Selenites and also bad-tempered human enforcers. The goal of the game is to complete this gauntlet as quickly as possible. The faster the brawlers are, the better the rewards and the bigger the roar of the crowd.

The game’s campaign can be played as a single-player or cooperative multiplayer experience. Furthermore, you can also race your friends and other players from around the world for the best times across the game’s event leaderboards. There are six distinct brawlers for you to choose from, so it is up to you to find what combination works for you to achieve the fastest time possible.

If you are looking for a game that’s a little slower in pace, then the other game on offer, Tharsis, might be a better choice for you. This turn-based space survival strategy game demands tough tactical and moral decisions where you are also at the mercy of a dice roll.

In Tharsis, you take control of humanity’s first manned space mission to Mars. Unfortunately, your vessel is crippled after being struck by a micrometeoroid storm. It is up to you to now guide the four remaining astronauts through onboard disasters, food shortages, and moral dilemmas as you try to successful reach the red planet.

With its unique mix of board game and video game mechanics, the outcomes of the tactical and moral choices you make are determined by the roll of a dice so you will have to continually adapt and rethink. Each of your astronauts has their own mission-critical abilities so you have to decide who stays healthy, fed and sane.

Valheim’s First Major Update Hearth & Home is Now Live

Iron Gate Studios’ hit Viking-inspired survival game, Valheim, has just received its first major update in the form of Hearth & Home. If you have completed the previous content for the game, it would now be a great time to jump back into it alone or with fellow Vikings.

The Hearth & Home update brings with it a smorgasbord of tweaks, new content and mechanics that will give the game a breath of fresh air for those who have spent 100s of hours in the game. Some of the tweaks include weapons rebalances, a blocking system overhaul and an auto-pickup toggle.

On the subject of weapons, you will now be able to craft a crystal battleaxe, silver knife, bone tower shield and iron buckler. There’s also a new special weapon, the butcher knife, used for butchering tamed animals.

Food in Valheim has also been rebalanced and now they provide mainly stamina or health so this makes it more straightforward and also interesting. The food GUI has also been overhauled to work better with the rebalancing. Furthermore, there are also now over 10 new things to eat.

Finally, for those who love building in the game, Iron Gate Studios have also added new Darkwood building pieces like shingle roofs, beams, decorations and more. There are also new types of furniture which include a mighty stone throne and steamy Viking hot tub. The cauldron can be further improved with a spice rack, butcher’s table and pots and pans. For even more cooking options, there’s now an oven and iron cooking station that will open up new recipes.

If you have been waiting to try out Valheim, you can get on Steam and currently has a 20% discount which ends on September 21.

Stylistic Sci-Fi Rogue-Lite Metallic Child Comes to Steam

Source: CREST Inc.

CREST Inc. and Studio HG’s addictive action rogue-lite, Metallic Child can now be purchased on Steam and it comes with a 10% launch discount, which ends on September 23.

Metallic Child follows the quest of the android Rona, who is out to save the space station Life Stream from a robo rebellion. You will battle through 11 unique space-age dungeons that are filled with nasty robots and a mean rebellious android boss at the end of each stage. You can tackle the stages in any order you want and use your very own strategic approach to victory.

Besides your cat-like reflexes, you will also have access to numerous weapons and skills. Some of these weapons include speedy gauntlets, balanced sword and shield and powerful hammer just to name a few. These weapons each have their own unique move sets that you will have to master if you want to save Life Stream. Along the way, you will also gain power-ups and collect specialised ability power cores to further customise your playstyle.

Last but least, through each run, you will collect computer chips that can be used to permanently power-up Rona’s skills and complete challenges which will net more rewards to help unlock cool skins, fan art and recordings that provide more backstory to Rona’s adventure.

I Am Fish is Available Now on Steam with 20% Launch Discount

From the folks that brought you I Am Bread, Curve Digital and Bossa Studios have just released I Am Fish on Steam. I Am Fish promises to challenge and delight fans of physics-based games with its striking cartoon art design and rewarding gameplay.

The story of I Am Fish revolves around four fish friends trying to reunite after being forcibly separated and scattered throughout the coastal city of Barnardshire. As expected, getting the school back together isn’t going to be easy and smooth sailing. You will have to guide the four friends through packed nightclubs, knife-filled kitchens, filthy sewers, and busy roads in order to reunite them with each other.

Thankfully that task would be made slightly easier with Goldfish, Pufferfish, Flying Fish and Piranha’s unique abilities that allow them to skillfully swim, roll, fly and chomp their way to safety. The game takes place within the shared universe of Surgeon Simulator and I Am Bread, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for neat easter eggs and references.

A portion of every sale from the game on Steam will be donated to the leading global charity dedicated to the protection of whales and dolphins, Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC).

Hanako: Honor & Blade Released with Generous 40% Launch Discount

Hanako: Honor & Blade is a passion project from indie developer, +Mpact Games that has been meticulously developed over 14 years as a way to remember those lost to cancer. This project began in 2007 by industry veteran and team lead, Matt Canei who made a teenage vow to honour the memory of his mother who lost her battle with breast cancer. He channelled his grief into his passion for creating games.

The end result is Hanako: Honor & Blade, a game that symbolises the battle between life and death, as embodied by the game’s two warrior clans. The Hanako clan represents health and goodness in the spirit of Matt’s mother, and the Yamai clan symbolise the opposition to life inherent in cancer and other diseases. The natural balance of the opposing forces metaphorically represents real-life tragedies while seeking to honour those lost.

Beyond the symbolism, Hanako: Honor and Blade is an immersive multiplayer combat experience set in Feudal Japan. Battles take place between up to 24 players and you can help decide the future of a nation by playing as one of four distinct warrior classes. These classes are the capable swordsman, powerful spearman, eagle-eyed archer, or nimble ninja. Each class has different build/skill options and features directionally driven combat, abilities, and spirit-based skills to get an extra edge.

Currently, there are five game modes with unique features, including team deathmatch battle, Capture the Scroll, Village Siege, Castle Raid, and Duel mode. Each map also features unique obstacles and dynamic environment changes which will require strategy and teamwork to overcome.

Hanako: Honor and Blade is now available on Steam and you can purchase the Standard Edition with a generous 40% discount. Alternatively, you can purchase the Founder’s Pack Bundle that comes with an exclusive in-game helmet and mask at a 21% discount.
